Frankincense Resin Infused Oil 1oz

Our Frankincense is infused from Frankincense Tears, it is not an essential oil. It’s healing benefits are stronger and more complete.

This powerful remedy comes from the Boswellia tree native to the southern Arabian peninsula (especially Oman and Yemen), northeast Africa, and parts of India. Long prized for its strongly spicy, woodsy aroma when burned or extracted, raw frankincense is still harvested much as it was thousands of years ago.

There are different varieties of Boswellia trees, but most resins (and the oils that come from them) belong to the Boswellia carterii species (also called the Boswellia sacra) found in Oman, Yemen, and surrounding areas. Other varieties include Boswellia frereana (from Somalia) and Boswellia serrata (from India).

Frankincense resin consists of three main components: the essential oil, the oleoresin, and the gum. Many are familiar with Frankincense essential oil, which is only part of the powerful compounds present in the resin, the very light molecules, light enough to travel in the steam during hydrodistillation process. Some very significant components that are not present in the essential oil but can be found in our oil extraction are: Boswellic Acid, Incensole, Incensole acetate, Epilupeol.

So besides its aroma, what makes frankincense so alluring? Studies are quite limited in scope, but holistic experts claim quite a few health benefits on the testimony of its long history. Frankincense seems to have powerful properties that:

  • support healthy cellular function
  • increase blood flow and circulation
  • reduce inflammation
  • reduce skin discoloration and imperfections
  • promote feelings of wellness and relaxation
  • promote oral health (the resin can even be chewed like gum!)
  • balance hormones
  • improve memory
  • in some studies, have been shown to suppress proliferation of cancer cells
