Color Your Feelings: Exploring Emotions Through Animals and Art
This creative resource helps students identify and express their emotions using the power of art, color, and animal symbolism.
Students begin by choosing one of five thoughtfully selected animals—dolphin, elephant, butterfly, dog, or dove—each representing positive mental health qualities such as joy, empathy, transformation, comfort, and peace. A simple explanation of each animal’s emotional meaning is included to guide their choice.
Next, students color in their chosen animal using hues that reflect how they’re feeling. A color emotion chart is featured on each page to help students select shades that match their current emotions—whether that’s calm, excited, anxious, joyful, or anything in between.
This activity supports emotional literacy and self-awareness in a creative, non-verbal way, making it perfect for classrooms, homeschool, or therapy settings. Great for all ages!
