Color Exploration and Inventory — Under the influence of routine, we tend to fall into certain color habits. Our choices can grow stale and predictable if they are not nourished by contact with outside sources. This has students research Japanese woodblock prints in order to expose them to new color palettes. First it looks at 4 famous artists and samples of how they used color. Then moves in to the project: They have to research a Japanese woodblock print, make a color inventory of the colors in the print, then draw out a simplistic room interior and apply that color palette to it (6 examples included).
