Some of Our Favorite Collaborative Art Projects
Bring on the color, connection, and a little end-of-year magic.

As spring rolls in and the countdown to summer begins, the classroom energy definitely starts to shift. We’ve found that this is the perfect time to lean into collaborative art projects. Not only do they give students a chance to slow down and enjoy the process—they also teach team building, spark creativity, and result in some pretty incredible displays. Plus, collaborative projects can involve students across different age groups, creating a beautiful sense of school-wide connection.
Whether it’s a mural made of many individual pieces, a giant banner, or a shared collaged project, there’s something magical about watching a final piece come together—especially when every student has a hand in it.
And let’s be honest: the walls start looking a little dull by May. Collaborative art is a great way to breathe fresh life (and color!) into the space. It’s joyful, meaningful, and just the kind of creative reset we all need this time of year.
Some of our recent favorites have included:
• School Name Zentangle Banner – A standout project that brings school pride and creativity together! Each student helped fill in the spaces around the bold block letters of our school name with intricate zentangle patterns and pops of color. The result? A stunning banner that’s as unique and vibrant as our school community.
• Large Flower Vase Mural – Nothing says spring like a giant vase bursting with student-made blooms. Each student designed their own flower using paint, markers, or collage materials. When we assembled them into one oversized bouquet, the mural turned into a joyful, colorful celebration of individuality and collaboration.
• Large Hot Air Balloon – This whimsical project lifted everyone’s spirits—literally and figuratively. Students each decorated a part of the balloon using patterns, bright colors, and personal touches. Once done, the balloon became a beautiful symbol of unity and imagination, floating across the wall with flair.
• Giant Gumball Machine – Always a crowd-pleaser! Using bingo dabbers, every student contributed a "gumball" to the giant machine outline. Watching it fill up with bold, vibrant dots was half the fun—the finished piece is full of energy, color, and the unmistakable charm of teamwork.
