Use for Life Skills / Home Economics / Nutritional Sciences: Food preparation - SAFETY IN THE KITCHEN and KNIFE SAFETY AND PARTS. Students try and find the trouble spots for kitchen safety first. The Teacher's notes page will help them find the rest and identify problems so you can guide them to proper practices. 

 

Students can study the different parts of a kitchen knife and also learn about what makes a better made knife. I usually put out several knives and have students guess which is the cheapest, best, most expensive, etc. Follow up can first lesson on dicing and chopping.

 

I use this worksheet in a cooking unit before we begin since safety is #1!
