One of our favorite units is Asian Art. We've developed quite a unit and we include Asia when we "travel the world" in art class. This just lended itself rather nicely around our little "Chinese take out food container" and we've done paper Asian food around this as well. This is BLUE WILLOW — the legend and the images and simplified patterns. Students can enjoy working in monochromatic blue and creating their own designs — we typically tell them they have to include all the legend images. Also included are examples, the poem, an outlined Blue Willow platter and the patterns. (great painting even on a paper plate — I love really tiny paintbrushes and blue tempera cakes and then hang in between all your other Asian artwork on a bulletin board!)
